Descriere
It is located in the village of Sânpetru, Sântămăria Orlea commune, near the Community Center. It is the first House of the Geopark, set up in 2013 and probably the first sightseeing education facility to be set up in a former village pub. The village of Sânpetru is the place where the story of dwarf dinosaurs has become famous worldwide. More than 100 years ago, it was baron Franz Nopcsa who studied and published about the fossil he discovered in the area. At the House of Dwarf Dinosaurs the visitor learns what happens on a paleontological site and can meet a reconstruction of Elopteryx nopcsai, the dinosaur bearing the name of the famous discoverer of our dwarf dinosaurs. The House also functions as an exhibition of objects made by the pupils of the Sântămăria Orlea School, a real source of inspiration for the little ones who are fond of dinosaurs.
The House of Dwarf Dinosaurs is a visiting centre organized and managed by the Sântămăria Orlea Women Association, the Town Hall and the Secondary School, in partnership with the Geopark.
